Paton Public Library recieved $2,605.00 from the Greene County Community Foundation in April, 2012. This will be used to help create a new Young Adult and Tween section. We will be purchasing new books and furniture to make sure this age group feels welcome. Allen Wedemeyer (left) of the Monsanto plant in Dayton presented a check for $2,500 to Paton library director Joleen Allen. Also at the presentation were Lora Smalley (second from right) and Paton Mayor Steve Joy (right). The libary received the $2,500 through America's Farmers Grow Communities, a program where winning farmers designate a local nonprofit organization to benefit from the donations. Lora Smalley was selected as a winner in the program and designated the money to the Paton Library.
In January the library received a $500 Charity Grant from Iowa Network Services (INS). We used the grant to purchase a new computer. WCCTA matched this grant to update technology.
The library received a Greene County Community Foundation (GCCF) Grant in the amount of $2605. This money is to be used for a new YA /tween section. to purchase new books and furniture for the young adults. It is fininished so stop in and see what we have done.
